Death by bath day

Heywo all!

The title says it all. Well, not really, I survived... but barely I tell you. Mom said something about me being stinky and greasy. She took me to a self service dog bath place. She was muttering something about saving her plumbing. I don't know what that means. Anyhoo... mom washed me and dried me and then... horrors of horrors... had my nails trimmed. The man that did it owns the place and was really nice to me and quick. I was a really good boy and now my nails don't look like Howard Hughes' nails... whoever he is.. Chief is getting his torture, I mean bath today. He's going to get a hair cut so he's not so shaggy. You know what this means? It means treats two days in a row. WOOO HOOO!

Blog name change

WOW! Has it really been almost two weeks since our last post? Time sure does fly when you nap all the time. Mom is thinking about changing the name of our blog. We haven't had many adventures lately. She is thinking about "The Two Rascals." Or, since Chief is so lazy and never posts, something with my name in the title. What do you think?

Chief and I are learning to get along with the baby. It is hard since she can walk now. I'm not sure and a little afraid. Mom says that if I'm afraid, I need to move and not grrr. Mom says grr-ing is bad. She says the baby doesn't understand. Stupid Baby!

The baby's new interest is our rooms. I don't let her stay next to me too long, but Chief doesn't mind as much. I think it's because he is fatter and has a fluffy coat to give him a buffer when she falls on him. But even Chief draws the line at being in the same crate as the baby. He's not totally crazy! To be fair, mom keeps a pretty good eye on the baby and doesn't let her bother us too much.

Anyhoo, here is a picture of Chief and the baby.

Mom says that she always wants to leave the flight option open to us, so we don't have to resort the other...

Night Adventures

Woof everyone,

My mom is such a good mom! I am a snuggler, and I get cold easy, so she lets me sleep under the covers with her. She even lets me back in under the covers after I leave. Last night was cold, and even Chief went and slept up on the bed with mom. He blocked my way in, so mom had to let me under on the other side. She thought I would hop over her legs and curl up in my spot. I decided to shake things up and curl up on her side of the bed. All was well, then suddenly.... WHAM! I was on the floor. Dad heard the noise and thought Chief had rolled off the bed in his sleep! But noooo.... Mom kicked me in her sleep and I fell off the bed! She woke up after.. lot of good that did me... she's lucky I'm a forgiving and agile sort of dog.

Better

heywo pups

I'm doing better. I listen to mom and am not so stressed out. I am getting used to the small person toddling about like a drunken sailor. here is a picture of Chief

I don't know how he can sleep like that. He is so weird, but at least he is feeling better. I'm hoping we will have more interesting adventures soon.

Not so good

We have had a bit of a set back. Yesterday I barked at a neighbor, a boy walking a shi tzu, and a man walking a pug. Well... it was more than barking, there was lunging and not listening to mom as well. Chief was sick in his cage Sunday. His intestines get ill about once a month, and the vet don't know what is wrong with him. They took x-rays and everything!

This morning I pooped in the house again. I don't know why I do it. Mom took me and Chief on our normal morning walk with lots of time for wanderings and sniffies. I'm dictating this entry from my room.

Hi, Bear's mom here. I am getting weary of Bear pooping on my new (not so much now) carpet. I take them out for two walks, and two pees and my husband takes them out when gets home from work. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Update

Heywoo

I'm hanging in there. I'm practicing walking beside mom, going potty on command and not getting too personal with the baby. I don't know how she knows, but mom always knows when I'm getting ready to try something and she says "Bear, don't even THINK about it" or "Bear, leave it". She read somewhere that you get better results from a dog if you say their name first, and then the command.

It is hard to remember to not jump on mom and scratch her with my toe claws, and not "go savage" and try to pull mom's arms out at the sockets. I am becoming more leash aware and hopefully mom won't get any more scars on her legs from rope burn.

Dad is helping me too. He takes us out for nice little walks at night. It is a different route than we usually do and there is always lots of new stuff for us to sniff.

I'm off for a nap because learning is exhausting.

Mom's disappointed

I was a bad dog last night. The baby was crawling around on the floor and my nose was glued to her behind. I stopped after mom said to, but I decided to establish dominance on the baby. NOW I know that is not acceptable after a time out in my room. Then I peed and pooped in the house while mom was sleeping.
Mom didn't yell at me. She did say we were going back to basics. On the one paw, this means more potty trips outside, but it also means more time in my room. Mom says that I can't be trusted right now.
Mom says I am a good dog, I just forgot she and dad are in charge, not me. I'm glad she isn't mean. She lets me know when I do good with pettings and scratchings and the good voice. and not so good with just the stern voice.
Chief is getting his share of basic training also, but he doesn't have to spend as much time in his room. He rarely has accidents and if he is sick, he lets mom and dad know he has to go out.

We just got back from our afternoon walk and I did really well! There was a little dog taking a walk and a man walking on the sidewalk and I didn't go savage! You can tell by the exclamation points that I am so excited! Mom is so proud of me! (one more exclamation point for good measure)

I kissed a girl

And I like it. but mom and dad keep saying "No Chiefy" and pushing my snooter away.
Aside from stealing kisses from the girl, I spent the day recovering. Mom did a terrible thing yesterday.... She.... She... vacuumed! The horror! All that time spent evenly covering the entire floor with my precious fur wasted. It's all gone. I needed to share my feelings and get some therapy from my most favorite buddy Lammie.

After I squeaked him and shook him breaking his neck again, I needed a nap. Luckily mom was done with the V word so I curled up on the couch.

Don't do it again mom. It was just too traumatic. And I do NOT look like a little entree!

Taking back the blog

Heywo

Bear here, and I have taken back the blog to save it from bad puns. It is really really cold this morning, my poor little feeties are not made for cold. Let us contrast and compare:
My paw:

See the long toe claws and short fur? This is a delicate instrument, designed for digging out varmits. My poor little feeties get so cold on our walk, but does mom carry me? No.... Well sometimes. She did mention buying boots for me, but dad put his foot down and said no.

Here is Chief's paw:

You could snow shoe with those paws! Chief's feet rarely get cold. Look at that fur! And he has it underneath too, between the pads and toes. These are feet built for the cold.

Not only do I have to walk with cold feet, but I have the difficult task of keeping the floor clean when the girl eats. Don't tell mom, but I am training her to feed me from her plate...

I'm going to take a nap on the couch to prepare for lunch duty.
Kisses,

Bear

Guess Who?

Hey Bear, we have a famous person in our house. Here is a picture!

Guess who it is? It is the Dolly LaLa!
Bear... Bear... don't grrrr and roll your eyes at me... mom is the one that thought of it..

Hello fellow pups!

Bear here. It has been really cold here for the past couple of days and it snowed. I hate snow, unlike my brother. My grandma made me a really neat cape. It is just like a blanket.

The only difference is the cape is easier to get under.

Here is a picture of me playing nice with Scott. You will remember that Chief does not play nice with Scott, or any other stuffed animal. I am a good boy and I only nap on them.

This was taken during Christmas which was exhausting. I was on constant patrol. Checking out the kitchen to make sure things were cooking properly and the floors didn't need cleaning. I also went outside, briefly, to make sure the borders were secure on the yard. Most of my time was spent making sure all my peeps were ok.

Happy Friday!

Fluffy tail wags all!

Chief here. Lots of stuff has happened. I'll cut mom some slack, for being sick, but I draw the line at being called a snow eater! I love snow, and we got some a few days ago. Did mom take pictures???? Heck no.. =(

Let's see, a quick recap. We went to the other grandma's house to celebrate our human sister's first birthday. Bear, Duffy and I were banished to the sun room while the cake was being eaten by the baby. Something about chocolate not being good for dogs. Bah Humbug! I can handle it! I am super dog!

Kisses to all

I've been busy

Howdy!

Chief here. I have been a very busy boy. First, mom left Pooh, (who is not my toy) on the floor. I couldn't resist. Mom says I "Hannibal Lectured" him. I don't know what that means.

Does this mean it's mine now?
I was exhausted after my escapade.

I am not going to get a crick in my neck mom; and could you cover me with that blankie?
Just kidding.

Kisses,
Chief

Grandma's Here!

Heywo all,

Grandma has arrived! We are so excited! Just look at all the exclamation points we are using! But before she came, some thing awful happened.. we.. were... groomed! Can you imagine? How could mom be so cruel? All sorts of girrrlie things were done to us. Like a bath, and our nails cut. We were finally looking and smelling like boy dogs. But mom said Chief was shaggy and I smelled like fritos. At least the groomers at PetSmart loved us and said we were sweet!

We have more good news too, (at least for us). Mom has been sick and has lost her voice. Woo Hoo! That means we don't have to mind her and can ignore her. HeHe, what kind of mischief, (I mean adventures) can I get Chief and I into?

"So what are going to do tonight Brain? Same thing we do every night Pinkie, try and take over the world"
Mom thought that quote from Pinkie and the Brain fit us quite nicely

Rescued!

Heywo all!

Bear here. It's my turn to tell you how I found my forever home. I don't like to talk about what happened before I was rescued. Let's just say, it was really scary, and I am so glad that mom and dad found me.
Mom here: It's a good thing they don't ever tell who they took animals from or I would be sorely tempted to find and beat them myself.
Mom and dad promised me that I would be with them forever. They didn't realize that I had been beaten until dad was raised his voice and moved towards me suddenly. I was so scared I peed. Dad felt really bad, he didn't mean to scare me.
We realized that we would have to overcome his trust issues, especially with men. We were lucky they didn't ruin this sweet little dog.
Grandma is coming and mom is running around the house trying to vacuum up all the dog hair.

Me llamo Miguel

Hola!

Chief here, bet you didn't know I could speak spanish. Miguel was the name the Humane Society gave me when they picked me up as a stray way back in 2001. I tried to tell them that I was just on a walk about and temporarily lost my way, but they wouldn't believe me. Dad wanted a Corgi and when they saw me on the website, they knew I was the one. Mom says it was love at first sight. They came for me as soon as they could and it was fate that I was there. I was briefly adopted by another family who returned me when I got kennel cough. Their loss!! I was in terrible shape, sick, underweight, matted dry fur and sores from sleeping on the concrete. Mom was very impressed at how happy sweet and loving I was despite the shape I was in.

Here is a picture of us looking out the window. I will continue the saga soon.
